MoreDAW

MoreDAW is a complete music studio that runs in your web browser and works offline*. No account, no install: unzip it and double-click MoreDAW.html. (*Internet connection required for some instruments when first using. They get downloaded automatically and shouldn't need to be fetched again.)

THE BROWSER VERSION OF MOREDAW SAVES TEMPORARILY TO BROWSER DATA. CLEARING SITE DATA WILL DELETE ANY TEMP FILES. TO SAVE A PROJECT, MANUALLY SAVE TO YOUR COMPUTER THROUGH THE MENU. PROJECTS ARE SAVED AS .JSONS WITH MOREDAW DATA AND AUDIO. CLOSING THE BROWSER WITHOUT SAVING SHOULD RETAIN A COPY TO RECOVER AS LONG AS BROWSER DATA WASN'T CLEARED AND AS LONG AS YOU WEREN'T USING INCOGNITO MODE, BUT THIS CANNOT BE GUARANTEED. PLEASE SAVE MANUALLY.

Play

• Piano keys with an arpeggiator and a loop recorder, playable with your computer keyboard, touch or a MIDI keyboard
• Guitar, bass, violin, cello and ukulele necks you strum or bow
• A circle pad whose notes follow the golden spiral, and an XY pad, both able to record and replay your gestures in time with the beat
• Drum pads, a 128-step beat maker with per-step effects, and genre grooves (hip hop, Eurobeat, rock and metal)

Conduct an orchestra. Beat time with your mouse or finger and a full orchestra follows your tempo and dynamics. Cue sections and switch between legato, staccato, pizzicato and tremolo.

MoreVox. A singing synthesizer built from scratch: type lyrics in English or Japanese and it sings them on any note. Includes MoreTune pitch correction.

Record and arrange. Multitrack audio and MIDI recording, comping takes, a piano roll, a chord track that writes parts for you, automation, markers and tempo changes.

Mix and master. Group buses, sidechain, insert effects, an EQ, compressor and limiter, and loudness matching for streaming. Export WAV, MP3, stems or MIDI.

Sounds. About 50 presets, 128 recorded General MIDI instruments, 10 drum kits, the Laser Strings collection and a sample browser for your own sounds.

Free. Use it for any music, personal or commercial; your music is yours. Pay what you want if you’d like to support it.

Best in Chrome or Edge, which are needed for MIDI and Bluetooth MIDI. Nothing you make leaves your computer.

System requirements

• Browser: Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on Windows, macOS or Linux, kept up to date. Other Chromium-based browsers (Brave, Opera, Vivaldi) will probably work but haven’t been tested. Firefox and Safari aren’t supported.
• Download size: about 55 MB zipped. Unzip it before opening MoreDAW.html.
• Internet: not needed. Everything runs offline once it’s unzipped. Web Audio Modules plug-ins are optional and do need a connection.
• Recommended: 4 GB of RAM or more and a computer from roughly the last 8 years. Long songs with many tracks and effects need more.
• Optional:
  • a microphone or audio interface for recording;
  • a USB or Bluetooth MIDI keyboard or controller;
  • headphones when recording, so the speakers don’t bleed into the mic.
